i really AM a chick…

…i SWEAR (like a trooper)!

i joked over here that there ought to be an “is-it-a-chick” turing test to see if female bloggers really are female bloggers.

well, turns out there is such a test @the stevens institute of technology website.

i cut & pasted the text of my genes for altruism post into their gender identification test — and i FAILed miserably! or, rather, they failed:

“The Gender Of The Author Who Wrote This File is: male 60.20%”

well, i guess i write like a guy — but i’m NOT a guy! really! (;_;)

about the test: “It doesn’t always work, however. When the software is fed text, its judgement on a male or female writer is only accurate 85 per cent of the time.”

whew! (^_^)

(note: comments do not require an email. or any b*lls whatsoever.)

  1. Your next post should be, “So, I was wearing a dress, which was covering my not-very-dense muscles, and flipping through a bunch of sewing patterns, and then I decided to have some herbal tea and watch daytime television.”

Or you could just write, “I think Edward the vampire is hot.”

That’ll girl you up real quick.

  2. @olave – “I’m grouchy coz those gender tester links aren’t working.”

they didn’t work all weekend, either — i think the link from new scientist overloaded their servers (or whatever).

  3. These tests don’t work on outliers. Really, I think that only the neurally divergent people are interesting. Interesting in a good way, or interesting in a bad way, but interesting.

    Fiftieth-percentile people are Bo-Ring.

  4. This is how this gender identification test works: everyone is a male! 85% of those who try this online will be males so it “makes sense” to identify everyone as male. I got 84% male for myself and when I pasted email snippets from various females, not one got less than 60% male.

  5. “The Gender Of The Author Who Wrote This File is: female 66.03%”

That was the response I got to “Loser = Uppity”. All the (three) comments I got on it were from (two) women.

well, not according to this “turing test” — i’m 60.2% likely to be a guy. (~_^)
