update 03/15 – 7:00 p.m. pst: hallelujah!! it looks like the anonymous commenting problem has been repaired. you should, once again, be able to leave a comment without having to provide an email address. (*whew*)
THANK YOU WORDPRESS PEOPLE!! better now. (^_^)
update 03/15 – 1:00 p.m. pst: well, wordpress has apparently changed their commenting system. ugh.
they say that now that if you use an email to comment which you’ve associated with wordpress at any time in the past, then you’re going to be forced to log in to wordpress. so, you’ll see an error message saying this:
“That email address is associated with an existing WordPress.com account, please log in to use it.”
HOWEVER, i’ve got my comments set here so that you don’t even have to leave an email address, i.e. i want my commenters to be able leave comments completely anonymously (you’re welcome!). some of those people, including myself in a couple of test runs here, are STILL getting the error message. so, something is not right.
there’s a lot of complaining going on on the wordpress support forum. we’ll see what happens. if this is not fixed, truly drastic measures might have to be taken.
update – 11:15 p.m. pst: desperate times call for desperate measures. i left a message on wordpress’ support forum regarding the comments problem. other (panicky!) people have as well. presumably they’re working on it!
there seems to be a problem with wordpress’ comments system, so if you’re having difficulties leaving a comment, that’s why.
i’m going to go with my usual glitch solving strategy and that is … wait a while and hope the problem fixes itself. (~_^) (or, in this case, hope that the good folks @wordpress fix it soon.)
