  1. How is this not a form of mental neoteny?

I’m genuinely puzzled by the phenomenon of grown adults retaining such affection for childish fantasies. I’m not judging you, I’m just curious about the mental development that you had to go through to display such things in your twenties (presumably you are a twenty-something).

  2. @ihtg – “Even though there’s only one pillow on that bed?”

@luke – “You are a neatnik. I would never have guessed.”

yeah. like xray said above, this is (sadly!) not my actual bedroom. =P

your clues were: 1) my “in my dreams!!! *sigh* =(“ comment in the post, and 2) one of the tags for the post which says: “not my bedroom.”

but, hey — i got a bridge in brooklyn that i’m lookin’ to sell…! =P

i dunno. you’ll have to ask one. (~_^) (flattery WILL get you everywhere! right after i check with the d.h.)

but, seriously — no, i wouldn’t want this bedroom. i mean, first of all, the boba fett mural is all wrong. boba’s colors are greeny-bluey, not the funky orangy-fushia color scheme they’ve got there. wtf?! and where, pray tell, are the luminous crossed lightsabers like howard in the big bang theory has?! (unless they’re on one of the walls we can’t see in this photo.) honestly — this decor needs some work!

  5. a reference to tbbt, the gayest sitcom on television. what is it with some people?

if you were a dude youd have sooo much trouble.

  6. @chainsmoker: i was unaware that sitcoms had been rank ordered by degree of gayness — which (lucky/unlucky) sitcom ended up on the opposite end of the spectrum? is there a similar measurement system for movies? & is there a “g” for gayness measurement, or should shows be rank ordered across relatively independent measures? kidding :) from the 10 minutes of tbbt i made it through, i fully agree with your ranking system!

  7. OT (& to apologize for the flippancy of my last comment): Azar Gat’s 2013 book: “Nations: the long history & deep roots of political ethnicity & nationalism” is quite good – & his podcast interview with marshall poe at new books in history is a decent summary :)

btw, the best interview there is greg cochran’s:
