    by Jack Goody. It claims that the church made cousin marriage taboo around 300 ad.

    it did. but there are a whole load of other things to consider beyond that like when various groups of europeans converted to christianity (some of them after 300 ad), and issues like enforcement — exactly when (and maybe where) was the church really able to enforce these regulations properly?
