  1. Jamaican success in sprinting is based on steroids, HGH and testosterone in addition to genetics. Ask Carl Lewis.

  2. It seems like introversion is distributed in much the same way as cognitive ability, though, amongst the races. My impression is that Asians are the most introverted race, overall, while blacks are the most extraverted, with whites falling in between.

  3. “who’s going to go first?” progressives are, obviously. They’re already practicing pathological, non reciprocal altruism in their daily lives, this is following their ideology to its logical (and fatal) conclusion.

Extraversion tends to be more as a “positive emotion” factor (while Neuroticism is a “negative emotion” factor – people with low degrees of either are kind of emotionally on an even keel), perhaps more than a pure measure of gregariousness or desire for social interaction, or even interest in other minds (although this is contentious).

Ashkenazi Jews tend to be high extraversion compared to Whites and especially Asians. This may contribute to what makes them really good businessmen (entrepreneurship is linked to extraversion) and high end thinkers – they’re interested in starting a dialogue, useful to help solve problems and are communicative – but probably leaves them more apt to distraction by social stuff, compared to more introverted populations.

My guess would be that extraversion probably has non-linear interactions with IQ, Openness to Experience and Conscientiousness – intellectually engaged and hard working extraverts are probably the backbone of intellectual culture – they exchange ideas with other intellectuals and they know more about the current intellectual status quo than the solitary man at his books – but extraverts are “party people” who are get more pleasure from everything and are likely to be more distractable.

A population with lots of introversion may have lots of studious individuals but they won’t talk very much and won’t have much of a symposium or debate culture or much in the way of intellectual interactions between thinkers. I would guess that that is bad overall, personally. A very high extraversion culture of the same IQ I would guess wouldn’t have as much in the way of an academy (all things being equal), but might have a more vibrant culture of intellectual exchange (synthesis, thesis, antithesis).

I hadn’t thought of that. Ashkenazi Jews are very high on verbal intelligence, though, while Asians seem to be higher on spatial/nonverbal, so maybe they are simply playing to their respective strengths?

except sociopaths (psychopaths) might be useful in some situations — like on the international business scene.

  8. How might sociopaths be useful on the international business scene, may I ask?

My considered judgment is that sociopaths are non-human animals in human form. They are the Hitlers, Stalins, Maos, and Pol Pots of this world

ruthless businessmen who will do whatever it takes to get the job done. i dunno: steve jobs? donald trump? neither you nor i may have much time for ruthless businessmen, but they might sometimes be required. too many of them destroys the economic system, tho.

  10. Despite their obvious negative impact, we would never want to eliminate psychopaths completely, because the traits they possess are useful in a variety of circumstances (e.g., business, politics, espionage).

Needless to say this is only hypothetical at this point.

I don’t know. It seems like sociopaths probably just represent the extreme end of personality traits that everyone possesses to some degree. Our sociopathic tendencies, in “normal” people temper our altruistic tendencies so that they do not become self-destructive. In their extreme form, however, they can be quite dangerous, especially if the sociopath is possessed of the intelligence to “pass” as normal.

  12. introversion only predicts GPA better than IQ b/c of the restricted range on IQ & GPA. include retarded folks in the data & get a stronger correlation between IQ & GPA. similarly, when folks say the ACT or SAT has only a weak prediction of college GPA – well, throw in the full range (include retarded people) & voila, a much higher correlation. seems more incorrect conclusions are drawn from “attenuation of correlation due to restriction in range” than from confusing correlation & causation (always visualize the scatterplot:)
