european and european-american homicide rates not very different

olave’s got a post up — Correlation Data on Homicide and Race — in which he crunches some numbers and finds that the homicide rates in europe AND very white u.s. states are not all that different. homicide rates go up in u.s. states that have a greater percentage of blacks in their populations.

go see olave’s numbers here! me? i’m movin’ to new hampshire. (~_^)

  1. i tried to leave a comment over @olave’s and it didn’t work — i ALWAYS have problems with that openid — i dunno why.

anyway — this is what i was gonna say…

olave said: “basically because Hispanics aren’t nearly as homicidal as blacks”

but the hispanics back in central america have really high homicide rates — higher than east africa. what’s up with that? do we just get the least homicidal hispanics in this country?

  2. I’m sorry about Open ID. I don’t know why it gives folks trouble. As of yet I’m not willing to let Anonymous people post because I have taken a firm stand against anarcho-tyranny.

I do think we get some of the best Hispanics. Not the best in terms of genetics or anything. It’s just that we get ambitious people who are willing to go along in order to get along.

Then their sons become chollos. *frown*

It’s also important to consider that law enforcement here is still surely better than in Central America.

Possibly. I guess it depends on how heavily heritable these traits are.
