Human Brain Networks Can be Tattle Tales“Greicius and his colleagues have previously shown that the brain operates, at least to some extent, as a composite of separate networks composed a number of distinct but simultaneously active brain regions. One of the things about certain kinds of work in very multi-ethnic inner city areas where there’s people from all over jumbled together is when you step back and think about it what you’re actually looking at is snapshots of evolution all jumbled together.

Neccessity will be the mother of evolution the same as it is of invention and if every day is the same like it was in the tropics for a long time then the need to be able to think about the future is limited. This plays into things like an inability to imagine how much 20 years in prison would suck.

I’d have thought the best way to test for empathy would be measure people’s reaction to crying babies or get two brothers to try and strangle each other and see what chemical they produce that stops them.
