they’re out there. consider yourselves warned:

“The strange case of the mystery enema”

“On the afternoon of Sunday, May 1, a 53-year-old Sonoma man who is visually impaired – that is to say he could not see well, if at all – was standing in his apartment when a woman appeared in his doorway, unannounced and unexpected.

“The woman told him she was there to give him an enema. Because the man had recently undergone intestinal surgery, he thought perhaps that explained her presence.

“The woman deftly guided him to his bedroom, had him drop his pants and lie face down on his bed.

“She then gave the man an enema and promptly left.

“The whole episode took about a minute-and-a-half, he later told police. The woman did not leave a card or any other identifying information. And given the condition of his eyesight, the man did not, in the complete sense of the word, actually see her.

“A day later, on Monday, the enema recipient began wondering about what had happened to him but took no action. By Tuesday, he felt compelled to shed some light on the experience, so he contacted police. An investigating officer promptly called the man’s doctor and was told no enema had been prescribed, ordered or approved….”

and, of course, you all remember the illinois enema bandit:

(tihwmflm.)

i can’t do ANY of this. i know — i just tried. (doc says i should be released from the hospital in a couple of months….)

(note: comments do not require an email. maybe i shouldn’t have used a bowling ball.)

wtf happened there? 150 people hospitalized? can you say losers — with a big L! (and not ’cause they lost the cup.)

well, at least we now know that white folks can riot.

rioting over sports — wins or losses — has got to be one of the dumbest things i can think of. i mean, how are they going to react if (when) there’s hyper-inflation (coming soon to an economy near you) and they can’t afford to buy bread? at least in that case rioting — or protests, anyway — would be understandable. but over a game?? please.

now that i’m talking about sports, can i just say: sports are dumb. dumb, dumb, dumb.

i know a lot of you prolly like watching|playing sports — and i know there’s all that group cohesiveness business — and i know it’s a proxy for war — but still, what a colossal waste of everyone’s time!

i can maybe see if you actually play a sport — that might be fun while you’re hanging out with pals — but sitting around watching other people play? and paying money for for the privilege?? nope. don’t get it.

plus, i can never understand why anyone can root for, say, the ny yankees or the chicago bulls when most of the players aren’t new yorkers or chicagoans. i just don’t get it. it’d be like rooting for mercenaries in a war your country was fighting. sure you might like ‘em to win, but it’s not like your own people are fighting.

i always thought professional (and college, for that matter) teams should just get renamed the blue team or the red team or whatever. now i see from steve sailer that that’s what the chariot teams used to be called back in old constantinople (under emperor justinian). at least that makes some sense! as opposed to pretending or imagining that there’s anything new yorkan about any of the ny yankees players.

why couldn’t we have come up with some other activity that would promote group cohesiveness and competition that would’ve been useful? like, let’s see which group can construct the biggest and bestest aqueduct first! or a space race! oh, wait. we did that. and lost. (did anyone riot then?) but maybe we could do it some more anyway!

my father always likes to lament about all the wasted human energy that has gone into wars when instead we could’ve done something useful like colonize mars or something. (he doesn’t get biology, but that’s ok.) i always like to retort that he should think about all the gazillions of wasted man hours that have gone into sports! if we would just quit running around after little balls in silly games, then we could really get something done! (maybe.)

(note: comments do not require an email. no, i never was a cheerleader. how did you guess?)

i’m gonna join the ranks of the one and dennis mangan in questioning wtf is with all the screwy dietary advice from the medical establishment?? eat lots of grains? hmmmmm. don’t eat too much animal fat? yeah, right. cholesterol is bad for you and causes vascular disease? pull the other one!

and now, starting to be de-bunked(?), don’t eat too much salt…

Fatal and Nonfatal Outcomes, Incidence of Hypertension, and Blood Pressure Changes in Relation to Urinary Sodium Excretion

“Conclusions – In this population-based cohort, systolic blood pressure, but not diastolic pressure, changes over time aligned with change in sodium excretion, but this association did not translate into a higher risk of hypertension or CVD complications. Lower sodium excretion was associated with higher CVD mortality.

yeah. you read that right. people who ate (or, at least, excreted) the LEAST amount of salt had a (slightly) higher death rate from heart disease. above-average salt intake did NOT increase blood pressure in this study.

i haven’t read the full article yet (will have to wait ’til after the weekend, i’m afraid), but wtf medical establishment? i’m sure working out all these dietary things is d*mn complicated, but quit giving advice without being as sure as you can be, already!

note that the study was done in denmark the flemish part of belgium, so maybe this applies only to danish flemish|germanic people. -?-

see also: Salt is GOOD for you: Eating more could even lower the chances of heart disease

(heh. now i’m glad i never followed the no-salt recommendation. i like salt, gosh-d*rnit! and i eat it! in moderation, like everything else. except for dark chocolate, of course.)

yay! whew. (*hbd chick wipes brow*) what a relief!

wait. what?

Libya: Serbian workers attacked by armed Libyans

“Tripoli, 21 Feb. (AKI) – A group of 50 Serbian workers have been attacked and blocked by armed Libyans as unrest and violence in the north African country spread to the capital of Tripoli, the Serbian foreign ministry said on Monday.

“The ministry said in a statement there were no injuries and all workers were safe and the government was planning their evacuation in cooperation with Libyan authorities. Serbia had traditionally friendly relations with the regime of colonel Muammar Gaddafi and hundreds of Serbian works have been employed in Libya building roads, factories and infrastructure….”

just another reason for lots o’ libyans to be p*ssed off!

unemployment amongst the under-20s is guesstimated to be over 50% — and they don’t even get to build the ROADS?!

i wouldn’t want to be a serbian in libya for all the slivovitz in belgrade!

btw. here’s the sort of thing that serbians have been building in libya:

previously: libya – land o’ tribes
